What a Teacher’s Exchange is:
It is distinct from a Professional Development (PD) which is geared to instructing teachers in techniques of practise, tuition methods, etc., while a Teacher’s Exchange is collaborative and collegiate.
A Teachers Exchange is open to all teachers and trainee teachers who are members of WAITA. We engage on various topics on a collaborative basis. We may have a presentation with a discussion after that or some other get-together to share ideas and provide each other with support. It’s here that we formulate any ideas from teachers which we wish the WAITA committee to consider more formally.
Upcoming Teacher’s Exchange
Next Teacher’s exchange is on Sunday the 08th February 2026 at mYoga; see Events page.
Last Teacher’s Exchange
On the 1st November 2025, the Yoga West Assoc. inc. kindly hosted the WAITA Teachers Exchange at their Shenton Park studio.
The philosophy topic for discussion was an extract from ‘Light on Life’ by BKS Iyengar, Chapter 4: “Clarity – The Mental Body.”, on the nature of manas (mind) in relation to memory, ego and intelligence, as elements of consciousness.
Ross Parris kindly made some notes of the proceedings, linked here.
The link to the excerpt of Guruji speaking during a special session at the Silver Jubilee celebrations is here.
